KAREN'S STORY
WOW - where do I start?
I grew up in Toronto ( hey - don't blame me! )........
I always wanted to be a Veterinarian but in those days the closest school was in Guelph and it was too far a journey, in many ways. Instead, I graduated into the Nursing program at Ryerson University but when I was working part-time at CHUM Radio as their Ski Reporter, I graviated to more 'fun' and business related activities. With my partner, we formed a syndicated radio show, SKI COUNTRY, where we marketed it Nationally to nearly 30 radio stations across Canada. During this time I worked with many clients including Advertising Agencies and was asked to join their forces. I took a position with one of the largest Advertising Agencies in Canada and proceeded to spend some 20 years in the advertising world as an Account Supervisor .
I moved to Vancouver in 1984 and worked with the Advertising Agency handling some of the province's most respected advertisers, like White Spot Restaurants and Whistler Mountain. After working with clients in the hospitality industry I decided to move my talents to the Holiday Inn as Sales Manager, also later working with Hampton Inns Hotels & Suites.
Real Estate has always been an interest of mine, as we had, over the years bought and sold a number of properties, in Ontario and B.C. I had a number of friends as Realtors, so I decided to become a Realtor myself and have never looked back. I've had the pleasure of working with REMAX and Royal LePage in West Vancouver and now Pemberton Holmes here in Victoria - a perfect place to enjoy fellow Realtors and the exciting world of Real Estate! I also became a Candidate Member with the Appraisal Institute of Canada to better serve my clients when listing a property or buying one. To better offer my experience and time in my local market, I sit on the Victoria Real Estate Board 'Advancing the Profession' committee where I've met many of the cities top Realtors and where I have a chance to actively participate in the changing our profession.
During the past few years, I've consulted on new condominium developments in Kelowna and Victoria; acted as sales representative for time-share properties, and bought and sold many homes, condos and townhomes for my many special clients.
All the years I've spent in the service industries, I've been able to benefit from excellent customer service training and sales skills. I also know how to negotiate to get the very best for my sellers and for my buyers.
